The charity HUMEN launched its Rise Against Suicide Sunrise Walk last month. People across the UK grabbed their trainers and headed out early morning on November 28th to walk a distance of 4,657m. The distance was decided by HUMEN as they say that 4,567 men died by suicide in the UK in 2020. Several celebrities, including film and television actor Andrew Scott, model David Gandy, actress Emma Rigby, comedian Alan Carr, actor Bill Nighy, musician Tom Odell and rugby player Danny Cipriani have supported the challenge and inspired the public to get walking too! The day saw nearly 500 people joining the cause and have managed to raise £38,609 so far, with the donation closing in January.
About Humen
HUMEN is a movement to improve and maintain men’s mental health through campaigning and the HUMEN space. Anonymous, preventative and non-clinical spaces for men to talk, listen and connect on a regular basis. 75% of all UK suicides are male. The right to talk should never be a privilege.
HUMEN will utilize the money raised for its work with men in need of support with their mental health and also inspire more men to get active and talk. They also aim to raise awareness across institutions and for a cause that HUMEN says is not given the attention that is needed.
When the Balloon goes up with EverythingBranded
As part of their campaign, HUMEN came to us for help in promoting their message during the Rise Against Suicide Sunrise Walk. One method a charity can use to publicize their message is by using balloons. Balloons are great promotional products that are good at directing people to a message or brand in a fun, creative way, without being too shouty. So HUMEN used this very method to spread awareness during their campaign.
