RECAP: – Week one saw five teams from our Everything Branded UK division go head-to-head to win one spot in the finale. The theme for their show-stopping creation was Movies! The contestants would have to create a baked treat based on their favourite movie, a creation from a movie or a character from a movie. The teams had a week to plan and create their showstoppers with their final presentations at the end of the week in front of a panel of judges made up of the senior management team. The cakes were judged based on taste, texture, presentation, and creativity.
After tallying up the scores, we had a tie, with the help of an external adjudicator (Assistant Finance Team Manager, Jon, stepped in to save the day!). And we had our winner – Jordon Fox, who recreated the Titanic in cake form.
The competition continues as week two sees the Everything Branded USA sales division based in the UK head office go head-to-head to fight for that finale spot. The theme for their showstopper was music, inspired by the two talented artists part of the team Ickey Singh and Dillon Morgan. The teams got creative with this round ranging from a Michael Jackson Thriller themed cake to a Twinky shaped boy band called Caked That (can you guess which band this was themed after?).
The winning duo Alex and Jasmine stole the show with their man playing a piano and musical themes Kinder Bueno Cookies. As with last week the winners decide which charity, they would like to give the proceeds from the bake sale. Alex and Jasmine chose Mind UK.
Mind provides advise and support to help anyone going through mental health problems. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. In 2016 Depression Alliance (a charity supporting people with depression for nearly 40 years) merged with Mind to continue providing its Friends in Need wellbeing network and online community as well as its 60 self-help groups.
