The Great Everything Branded Bake-Off Week 4 Donates to Mind

February 3, 2021

RECAP: – The competition heats up with week 3 seeing Finance go head-to-head with the Marketing team. Now this week is a little special as it falls alongside Breast Cancer Awareness week. The theme being female empowerment. For this theme you could make you cake inspired by someone that empowers you or a cake themed around empowering someone else.

The whimsical caking ranged from superheroes, to Frida Kahlo, to The Suffragettes. The winning team, Amber and Holly from Marketing, topped their cake with a pink superhero/candy themed Victoria Sponge cake. The girls were happy to donate the £100 from the bake sale to Breast Cancer Now.

This week: – The final week of the competition sees the three teams go against each other to win the title of best baker for their department. Our finale contestants are Jasmine and Alex representing the USA Sales Team, Jordan representing the UK Sales Team and Amber and Holly representing Marketing.

The theme for this week’s showstoppers was Halloween. Previously the contestants were given a week and instructed to bake their creations and decorate them in the comfort of their own homes. This week we thought we would switch things up. The contestants were allowed to bake, crumb coat and create decoration at home however they were instructed to cover and add the finishing touches at work. They were only given an hour to finish and present their work.

The masterpieces ranged from a bulging brain, gruesome graveyard and a ghastly gourd! Our winners, Amber and Holly from Marketing, created a chocolate orange pinata pumpkin cake filled with amazing Halloween theme sweet treats. The girls decided to donate the cake sale money to Mind UK, to help support all the extra hard work they are putting in during the pandemic and lockdown.

Over the past year Mind has reached over 1.5 million employees through their workplace wellbeing service, their local Mind services reached 333,000 people and over 120,000 people use their online support communities. With so many people living alone or people living in remote areas Mind’s virtual services have increased with their online health information accessed over 18 million times and they responded to over 119,000 people seeking information or support from their helpline. All of this means more manpower and maintenance required to fulfil the demands. Depression, chronic loneliness and anxiety were always present but with the current restrictions they are probably now more then ever at their peak. Found out how you can help by clicking here.
